Evaluation of - Evanescence Call Me When Your Sober
Director: Marc Webb
The video is based on the fairytale - Little Red Riding Hood, with Amy Lee (lead singer) posing as Red Riding Hood.
The video unfolds of a close up of Amy Lee, wearing the red hood of Red Riding Hood. The close up of the lead singer appeals to the fans & the coinsides with the 'male gaze' philosophy. This is shown through the appeal of Amy Lee to the male fans/audience.
Throughout the video, the camera cuts between shots of the band and of the narrated story (between Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf, played by Oliver Goodwill)
The high-shot of the band keeps the focus on the setting rather than on each band member. The settings coinside with the gothic/fairytale style of the music video. Amy Lee's dress coinsiding with the idea of Little Red Riding Hood but adding a personal flair to accomodate the band's style of music (a more gothic/rock style of dress).
The fairytale genre of the music video is emphasised through the flying dancers & Amy Lee, adding the effect of 'magic' to the video as well as emphasising the crescendo of the song.
